Svenska was the name of my father's business. It started out with sails and boat covers before it became linked to photography.

Svenska Studios does commission work for creative photographic projects. There are no “cookie cutter” approaches. Each project is based on client needs. In portrait photography, the goal is to capture the spirit and essence of the individual being photographed, whether they are 9 days or 90 years old. Destination wedding photography includes classic photographs but goes far beyond the formulaic approach, not only with time spent before the big day but no time limits on the day of the event. Sometimes it is the perfect tree that is sought by a client at their cabin in the redwoods that conveys the sense of well-being. Other times it is capturing the artist’s studio that allows the artist to see his or her own art in a new way.

The range of services includes restoration of old photographs and transferring old film and VHS tapes to new media. These are exacting but satisfying projects to bring alive memories. It is also fascinating to work with clients who do research to document and preserve information, making it accessible to new generations.

Svenska Studios also believes in helping small non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. Pro bono services to photograph events, create brochures, and assist with website photographs are offered to supported organizations.
